We Know How to Make You Blush

Like never before.

Okay, we’ll say it—just about everything is better in Italy. It’s something we have been thinking about a lot lately.

That includes the obvious things: Pizza, pasta, wine, gelato. The shopping! Murano glass, swoon. Leather bags, shoes, jackets, etc. And yes, fancy things: Fendi, Prada, Max Mara—the list goes on. Long days at la spiaggia (“the beach”), with a spritz in hand. Inspiring things: The architecture, Renaissance paintings.

La dolce vita, as they say.

BUT this whole idea of “better” goes beyond the obvious stuff, beyond the holiday-in-Capri scene of it all. We have come to realize that it extends to makeup—more specifically to our new baked blush, created with a technology unique to us. We are so excited to introduce you to our velvet-soft SuperSuede™ Baked Powder Blush, which starts as dough and rises to something remarkable (just like pizza and focaccia).

As her name implies, she’s pretty darn super. Allow us to elaborate…

SUPER LUXE

SuperSuede™ is made in Italy, and made from scratch, like so many luxurious things we adore. A whole lot of love has been baked into this blush using an Italian technique that’s been passed down through generations…and then Saie-ified for the glowiest results. Our vice president of product development Colleen Timpone describes the process as “artisanal.” It goes like this: A dough gets whipped by hand, and then delicately placed onto terracotta discs made in Sicily. (Arguably, one of the most luxurious things about this is knowing that there is a mini piece of pottery—see below—waiting for us at the bottom of our blush.) After that, every pan gets wrapped in a cloth, and baked to perfection. Timpone and her team check each batch to make sure of this.

SUPER INNOVATIVE

Forget what you know about powder because this is a first-of-its-kind blush. We eliminated the, well, powderiness, you might expect, in favor of a velvety feel. What’s more: “Kaolin clay prevents caking from happening,” says Kelly Cao, our senior manager of product development. Each of the six shades, with Italian names like Stella (meaning “star”) and Amore (or “love”), gives you a seamless flush of color and a gorgeous blurring effect.

SUPER CLEAN

No worries. No talc. No silicones. No fragrance. No, grazie (“thank you”) to all of that.

SUPER WEARABLE

And super plush. “SuperSuede has a very creamy, sensorial texture to it,” says Cao, meaning it’s easy to blend and buildable. As you apply the pigment, you’ll notice it effortlessly melts into your cheeks, thanks to skin-loving ingredients like olive-derived squalane and hyaluronic acid. “The formula becomes one with the skin,” says Timpone, so much so that it’ll keep your cheeks flushed—without settling or cracking—from the time you sip a cappuccino in the morning until you unwind over an aperitivo (the lovely Italian tradition of enjoying snacks and a drink before dinner—because, as we have said, just about everything is better in Italy).

SUPER FLUSH

“You can wear this blush on bare skin or over other products. It has legs,” says Timpone. And a little goes a long way: Dip your brush (we love our new Powder Blush Brush) into the powder, tap off any excess, sweep the color over the apples of your cheeks up toward your temples, and you’ll be blushing with greatness.
