We spent a few days in Milan—a city where old-world charm and modern design coexist so beautifully—with a small group of friends of the brand, inviting them to see firsthand how some of Saie’s products come to life.
There’s something about this city. It holds history in its bones, yet everything feels refined and forward-thinking. There’s a rhythm here that’s slower, more intentional. It’s Italy, after all. You catch yourself noticing all the little things—the curve of a doorway, the way espresso arrives so exquisitely at the table, how the afternoon light drapes through curtains.
For three days, we wandered and gathered a whole lot of inspiration. Thoughtful design. Craftsmanship with soul. Vintage color palettes. Dinners that stretched into long, easy conversations.
We’re not quite ready to share what’s coming next (soon, promise!), but this city was a big part of it. Here’s a little glimpse into our trip…
WHERE WE STAYED
Portrait Milano felt like discovering a (very chic!) secret sense of calm just off the piazza. Every morning, we’d indulge in the hotel breakfast—it’s arguably the best in the city—with cappuccinos, fresh fruit, and pastries so good they made us rethink breakfast entirely. And then there’s the courtyard—peaceful, transcendent. It quickly became our favorite pause before stepping into the buzz of the city. One of those places that lingers in your mind long after you’ve left.
AROUND TOWN
We took a day trip in vintage Alfa Romeos—a cinematic way to travel. Along the way, we stopped by Stivaleria Savoia, a generations-old Milanese shoe atelier where each pair is carefully hand-sewn using techniques passed down through time. We left with custom shoes and a tangible reminder of what it means to create with care.
Another afternoon was spent wandering the serene grounds of Villa Necchi Campiglio, a historic residence designed by Piero Portaluppi. The soft light, the quiet, and its exquisite veranda (how beautiful—and serene—is this space?) reminded us that some of the most beautiful things are the quietest.
Then there was Rossana Orlandi Gallery—a place that really caught our attention. Set inside a deconsecrated 18th-century church, the gallery is an amazing mix of light, texture, and space.
ON THE MENU
Dinner at Da Giacomo feels a bit like stepping into a Milanese time capsule—warm, rich with history, and utterly unforgettable. We shared plates of classic dishes and ended with their Bamba De Giacomo dessert—a golden, creamy masterpiece that instantly became a team favorite.
Our last night was at Torre di Pisa in Brera, a cozy trattoria that felt like being welcomed into a friend’s kitchen. Their riso al salto—crispy, golden risotto—is a comfort food we’re still dreaming about.
And, of course, gelato breaks happened often!
This trip reminded us why we do what we do: to create thoughtfully, honor the beauty in the process, and make things that feel as good as they look. We came home with an even deeper love for the kind of beauty that lasts.
Ciao for now,
Xoxo
