Our Founder’s Vintage Collection Is Here
Inspired by her childhood spent in nature, each of these '80s and '90s pieces has been handpicked from heritage brands.
Back in 2021, when we first started thinking about creating merch, we knew we wanted to do it the Saie way: sustainable, and timeless. That’s a big part of why we went the vintage route. Shopping vintage is such a key part of living sustainably. But our love for vintage runs deep: Amanda Musacchia, a member of our special projects team, is the daughter of Eeva Musacchia, who started Eveliina Vintage in the 70s; our director of community, Lauren Lauigan, has her own vintage curation company, Frou Frou NYC, which does regular drops on Instagram; and many people on our team have their favorite local spots around the city. Launching vintage merch was such a natural fit for us.
For Earth Month, we’re dropping something extra special: Laney’s Saie Vintage Collection. It’s a love letter to the outdoors, and curated by our founder, Laney Crowell, who pulled a lot of inspiration from her childhood.
“Recently, I was on a hike with my sister in Portland, who was wearing my dad’s Patagonia fleece from the '80s,” says Crowell. “It still was in perfect condition and I remember it vividly because he wore it constantly on hikes when I was little.” With this in mind, Crowell hand-selected a bunch of ‘80s and ‘90s finds like Patagonia fleeces (naturally!), barn jackets, overalls, and more—all pieces that feel like nostalgia when you slip them on. And, of course, there’s an L.L. Bean tote in there—because, honestly, it’s a classic.
While the whole outdoorsy, fisherman aesthetic is definitely having a moment, Laney’s collection isn’t about jumping on a trend. It’s embracing everyday adventures—a walk through the city, a spontaneous weekend getaway, or perhaps, fishing and hiking. It’s stepping outside, breathing in fresh air, and reconnecting with nature!
As far as styling the collection, you can take inspiration from Crowell's guide to barn jackets and see how she is wearing her fleece below. There’s a whole lot of versatility here. You can keep things casual by wearing pieces like a Patagonia fleece with leggings and sneakers, or take a more polished approach by layering them with tailored items and sleek accessories (we love a Margaux flat!)—all while maintaining that utilitarian vibe. Either way, we hope that these pieces inspire you to take your next adventure, big or small.
Tell us which pieces you are eyeing in the comments. We can’t wait to see how you style yours!
Until next time,
Xoxo
