If lately you’ve looked around and noticed that all celebs seem to be wearing some variation of a puffy hoop earring, you can thank Jenny Bird for that. The Founder and Creative Director of her eponymous jewelry brand, has an unmatched eye for trends and design. We recently visited her NYC pop up and were blown away by our shopping experience there.
Jenny’s acute sensibility for personal style means she’s able to pair you in elegant statement pieces that work no matter your age or look. Her pieces are the finishing touch that, like a swipe of Glossybounce™, tie everything together and give you that extra something. We sat down with Jenny to chat about all things jewelry, beauty, and her must-have essentials.
1. Can you introduce us to JENNY BIRD?
JENNY BIRD is the jewelry brand of the moment. Our statement-making modern designs are always one step ahead of the trends, while still being lightweight and easy to wear. Plus, they instantly upgrade your look and your mood. I believe that’s why our jewelry is a favorite among fashion insiders and celebrities alike. You are missing out if you’re not wearing JENNY BIRD right now.
2. What is your current favorite JB piece and what helped inspire it?
My current favorite are our Nouveaux Puff Earrings. The curvaceous and puffy trend seen in everything from sofas to bags hadn’t been done in a piece of jewelry yet, so we worked hard at the design until we achieved a super puffy look that was also lightweight.
3. What's your best advice for styling jewelry?
My best advice for styling jewelry is to find that personal mash-up that is meaningful to you; to mix your keepsakes and your fine with new modern fashion pieces. Any new pieces you bring in should make you feel and look amazing when you put them on and elicit a dozen compliments.
4. What's your personal philosophy on beauty?
I’m in my late 40s and officially in my skincare and beauty era. My philosophy is to practice a suite of commitments that maximize natural beauty—I call them Rules to Beautify By. These include embracing aging, avoiding invasive procedures, investing in lifestyle choices that support radiance from within (sleep, clean diet, exercise, etc.) and continuously seeking out new industry-leading products that keep me looking my best with ease.
5. Can you give us a random list of 3 reccs you've been obsessing over lately (anything from books to supplements to cafes to clothing and more)
For a good night’s rest, I turn to Asutra Dream the Night Away Lotion which is formulated with melatonin and magnesium and has a beautiful scent to it. When I apply it before bed I fall into a sleep that’s 20% deeper than usual and wake up feeling amazing. Plus, it’s from an amazing female-founded brand.
I love being intentional with my style. I recently picked up a pair of denim pants from Still Here when I was in New York City, and the Everyday cut fits so well. It’s a true straight leg. If you’re going for a less fussed look, I’d suggest the Cool jeans—they’re a slouchier style and really live up to their name.
Taking time to read feels so luxurious these days. I love keeping books of poetry beside my bed, flipping through to random pages and enjoying a few pieces of prose before I sleep. It feels indulgent and romantic. Currently enjoying some classics with Mary Oliver’s Blue Horses and Henri Cole’s Blizzard.
6. What Saie essential is a must in your beauty routine and why?
My must is Dew Blush (I have several shades but most often reach for Cutie) since I use it all week and weekend long. As a busy mom with young kids, I don’t always have time for a full face so some products aren’t worn every day. But my Dew Blush is. A quick sweep of mascara and a dot of Dew Blush is all I need on the weekends to feel presentable when I’m taking my kids to activities and running errands.
If you’re looking to try on some Jenny Bird pieces in person, you can visit their pop up in Nolita until December 22nd. Also, it looks like their Black Friday sale is already live…
Until next week,
xoxo
